City wine tasting – Squitchy Lane & Narkoojee

This wine tasting is being put together by Narkoojee Wines in cooperation with Squitchy Lane, one of the Yarra Valley’s unsung heroes and will be held on Saturday 15 June 2019 in the Board Room of Squitchy Lane Holdings, Level 1, 88 Collins St Melbourne.

Narkoojee was established by Harry Friend with an experimental planting in 1980, on the family’s dairy farm at Glengarry, near Traralgon. While Harry is still involved, in recent years the winemaking has been taken over by his son, Axel, who also manages the vineyard. Over the years Narkoojee’s production and reputation has grown, to the point of being recognised by James Halliday as one of the two top wineries in Gippsland, second only to the renowned Bass Phillip.

The Squitchy vines at Coldstream are nearing forty years of age (rare in this region) and produce consistently fine age-worthy wines. Owned by AFL legend Mike Fitzpatrick, it has a production team of many years of experience in viticulture and winemaking, and a philosophy based on quality without compromise. Viticulturist Steve Sadlier was born and bred in the Yarra Valley, while winemaker Robert Paul has made wine all over the world and brings a true international flavour to the enterprise. The wines are only released for sale when they are showing their true worth.

Eleven fine wines will be available for tasting, which will be held in three sessions, beginning at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, with finger food provided. Because the capacity of the Board Room is limited, early booking is essential, via the links below. The cost for the tasting is $30 per person. Special offers will be available on the day.
